Thoughts from a lover of epic stories
Three cheers for beautiful anime box sets. The format of the "Trinity Blood" set is so nice it's almost like a modern illuminated manuscript.
But the pretty box is nothing compared to the story contained within.
The anime of "Trinity Blood" is a cobbling together of the stories in the light novels and the manga with an underlying plot involving the delicate transition between the conflict of the humans and the vampires to a balance of peace. It can appear to be haphazard in places, but overall the story follows a steady course to its conclusion and it has become one of my favorite anime.
The characters carry the events better than many stories I've seen. It is the changes in them that prove to be the most powerful points of the plot. Keep your eye on Esther and Alessandro, both of whom go through the most poignant transformations. My favorite scene in the entire show is towards the end when Alessandro blesses the little vampire girl's pet rabbit. You see him...
Solid vampire themed anime series
The blu-ray conversion of this very well executed vampire-related anime series. If you enjoy anime centering around vampires, like Hellsing or Vampire Hunter D, this series will be up your alley. Alright, here is the low down on this box set...
VIDEO:
The animation quality to this series is excellent. The studio who produced the animation, Gonzo, is known for skillfully blending CG animation and cell-shaded(hand drawn)animation. Both styles of animation blends very well in this one. The background artwork is very skillfully rendered and is beautiful. Nice variation of soft and bold colors. The character and mecha designs are very good as well. Overall, the animation as a whole is very pleasing to watch throughout the entire series. Anime in full HD is indeed a great thing and is how anime should be seen.
AUDIO:
The entire soundtrack to the series is excellent. The background music(BGM) fits in very well with the theme of the story and every...
Great show, Author dead.
I caught this series while it was on adult swim. Didn't miss an episode. I agree with the other reviewers. It is not to the level of Cowboy Beebop or several other classics. It is better than plenty of other shows. That said I was saddened to find the original author of the story died in 2004 and it seems the popularity of the show kinda died off after that because I too think this series had something going for it, but its largely left unfinished. His friend did step in and finish the remaining books according to wiki. I'm not sure how much more we'll see of this universe.
Eitherway I really liked the characters and their individual personalities and quirks. I thought it was interesting how they wove the church into a serious political force and how it was represented visually.
